Hi AIAM Member
In 2017 the Committee of the Australian Institute of Animal Management (AIAM) submitted feedback for the RSPCA Australia’s draft discussion paper titled Identifying Best Practice Domestic Cat Management in Australia.
The AIAM Committee strive to engage with our stakeholders on issues of importance to animal management across the country. Developing an effective system for animal management both locally and at a state level is a priority within the AIAM Strategic Plan 2017-2020 as is identifying, promoting and supporting best practice animal management policy and practice.
RSPCA Australia have now advised that this report has been finalised and has requested that we share the attached communication with you. The report refers to the Australian Cat Action Plan (ACAP) which is a practical guide for government and non-government organisations to improve the management and welfare of domestic cats.
The 2018 AIAM Workshops will include a presentation on the ACAP, and some of the initiatives relevant to Local Government, and we invite you to join us in the Hunter Valley in October for this event.
The annual AIAM Workshops and Training Day focus on strategic as well as practical approaches to common problems facing animal management officers and leaders daily. Providing resources and education to improve effective resource use, budget constraints and community satisfaction is a priority within our program and we do hope you will join us in NSW to explore these issues as well as network with your peers and colleagues.
Best regards
Elke Tapley
AIAM President
