Join us for a webinar with Local Government foster program experts Felicity (Flick) Hillenaar and Brandon Cowan.

We will explore what foster programs are, benefits and drawbacks of foster programs, why an organisation might consider implementation of a program as well as what is needed to get started.

Bring your questions and concerns and join the conversation on 18th February at 12 noon AEDST.

Felicity Hillenaar

Animal Care and Foster Specialist

Felicity, aka Flick, is an animal welfare expert with over 15 years of hands-on experience, and a passion for improving the lives of companion animals—one foster at a time. She has helped revolutionise shelter operations and foster care programs across Sydney and Melbourne, all while keeping things running smoothly and with a healthy sense of humor. She currently cuddles dogs and cats, and sometimes works, as the Animal Care and Foster Manager at Sydney Dogs and Cats Home.

Holding a degree in Animal Sciences, and numerous certifications in animal behaviour and sheltering practises, Flick is particularly passionate about expanding in-home care through foster programs, which she believes are key to not only increasing adoption rates but also improving the lives of animals in care.

Brandon Cowan

Animal Care and Foster Specialist

Brandon is an experienced animal welfare professional with over eight years in the animal shelter industry. As the Foster Care Manager at Animal Welfare League NSW, he has developed and expanded foster programs and has placed an estimated 5,000 animals into temporary homes.

Previously, as the Animal Rehoming Officer for one of NSW’s largest council pounds, he played a key role in increasing adoptions and reducing euthanasia rates for cats. He is also the creator of FindMyOwner, a NSW-wide lost pet reunification service that has helped over 600 lost dogs return home in under a year, achieving an unprecedented 88% return-home rate. He is passionate about helping councils implement programs to improve live outcomes for animals.

In his spare time, Brandon plays dodgeball, fosters cats, runs a Facebook page for his cat and he is currently building a platform to help pet owners with the cost of living.

This event will be recorded and the recording will be available the day after the event.
